What the register is
A paid listing of organisations that serve sun protection manufacturers on the technical and regulatory side: sun protection testing laboratories, cosmetic regulatory consultants, responsible person services, claim substantiation specialists, safety assessors and stability testing providers.
It is business facing. It exists for a formulator, a technical manager or a brand owner looking for a supplier, and it is of no use to a consumer, which is deliberate.
The rules it runs by
- Alphabetical. Always, with no exceptions purchasable at any price.
- Labelled paid. Every entry is marked as a paid listing at the top of the entry and in the page heading.
- Facts only. Entries carry disclosed, verifiable facts: legal name, registered number, country of operation, services offered described without superlatives, and the accreditation reference where one is held. No marketing copy, no claims of quality, no scores, no badges, no editorial comment.
- Never linked from an article. No article on this site links to the register or to any entry in it. The register is reachable from the navigation and the footer and from nowhere else.
- Not a ranking, not a recommendation. Appearing here means an organisation paid and met the published criteria. It does not mean we assessed their work, because we have not.
Who cannot be listed
Sunscreen brands, own label suppliers, contract manufacturers selling finished sun protection products, retailers and distributors cannot buy an entry at any price. The register is limited to testing and regulatory services precisely so that nobody whose claims we might rule on is paying us.
Current state
The register is empty. No entries have been published yet. We would rather say so than fill it with organisations that never asked to appear, which is the usual practice and the reason most sector directories are worthless. If you run a laboratory or a consultancy that meets the published criteria, the process for applying is there.
How an entry is verified
Before publication we check the legal entity against the public register in its country of incorporation, and we check any accreditation reference against the accreditation body's own public schedule. If an accreditation lapses, the reference is removed from the entry on the day we become aware of it, and the entry stays only if the rest of it still stands. Entries are re-verified every twelve months.
